Family Programs

The family is the first context in which faith is formed. Therefore, this spiritual community is committed to supporting families as they grow in faith. We understand that families have many shapes, sizes and configurations these days. All are welcome here. Beyond just nurturing the faith formation of children and youth, we believe that parents and families as a whole need encouragement.

Family life is busy and complex these days. That’s why FCCB offers families programs and support in making their spiritual intentions work in the midst of daily life. This practical approach to spirituality helps parents feel grounded in their faith. Our family ministry events also provide a safe place to just be with other families. We also strive to support the inclusion of families in the full life of the church by providing childcare and activities during most events.

Children’s Protection Policy

In order to create safe environments for children and youth at FCCB, the Church Council has passed a comprehensive Children’s Protection Policy which you can download. If you have questions about the policy please contact Minister of Community Life Adam Blons.

All-Church Retreat Each Fall

Each year many members of the congregation go off to the Annual All-Church Retreat at Camp Cazadero near the Russian River. The retreat offers something for all ages: hiking, easy crafts, campfire sing-along, swimming in a pool, square/folk dancing, worship in the woods, and starlit nights. Each year there is a different theme to explore in a variety of ways. Mostly, though, it&rsqou;s a wonderful method for congregational “chilling out!”. Watch for this Fall’s Camp Caz dates!

FCCB Members Enjoy All-Church Picnic

About 50 members and friends of First Congregational gathered after church on Sunday, May 31, 2009, at nearby Lake Temescal for a picnic. There was music, games, food and great fellowship and even some juggling! Folks didn”t let typical Berkeley late-Spring weather (cloudy and a bit chilly!) get in the way of the fun. The event was masterfully organized by the Ministry of Care, Fellowship and Invitation.
