First Church is delighted to welcome Loi Almeron as a new Emerging Leader at First Church this spring semester. She will join current Emerging Leader Lauren Jewett.
Over the last few years these positions have provided opportunities for gaining experience in local church leadership. First Church has, in turn, received the gifts of talented and inspiring leaders from a variety of disciplines.
Loi Almeron has attended First Church since 2014, when she moved from the Philippines to pursue her Masters in Journalism at UC Berkeley. She grew up attending UCC churches in the Philippines. Loi participated in the International Solidarity Mission in Mindanao, Philippines on behalf of FCCB in 2015. She is also a member and organizer for Student Christian Movement and World Student Christian Federation of North America.
Although some of the Emerging Leaders have been seminary students or graduates, it isn’t a requirement of the position. Loi will join Lauren on the Worship Planning Team and will participate in worship leadership in a variety of ways. While the Emerging Leader schedule usually runs Sept-May, Loi is scheduled serve from Feburary-June.
The Emerging Leaders positions began with special funding provided by a member of the congregation.
