About Us
  • We are people who may have been brought up in other faith traditions or none at all.
  • We are people of different ages and styles of life.
  • We are people of different races, including multi-racial families.
  • Our families are different shapes and sizes and include singles, significant others, and those who have lost partners or spouses.
  • Some of us have children, some of us don’t, some of us are children.
  • We respect other faith traditions, and some of our families are interfaith.
  • We are all over the map politically (but we are located in Berkeley!)
  • We are free to wrestle theologically.
  • We take care of each other.
  • We like to think and exchange ideas and opinions.
  • We value creativity and use the arts in many ways in the life of the church.

Annual Reports Now Available Online

Although an Annual Report may sound boring, these documents are actually a wonderful compendium of the activities of our congregation over the course of a year. It includes news from the staff and church leaders, and color photos of life at our church. It is a great way to get to know us if you are new and to stay on top of the action even if you are a long time member. These online pdf versions also save valuable resources.

MEET SOME OF OUR MEMBERS

Nick & Annis Kukulan

My wife and I joined FCCB with our two young daughters 14 years ago. This was after being a regular visitor for over 10 months, and visiting other churches in Berkeley. At FCCB, we had experienced its wonderfully supportive Christian community with dedicted and inspirational staff. We recognized that church members explored and expressed their Christian faith in non-dogmatic ways and that FCCB was open to seekers at any stage of faith exploration.

But we weren’t committed to joining FCCB until we were driving home from its family camp in the Cazadero redwoods and the girls called out from the backseat, “Why don’t we join?” We agreed on the spot that our family had found our church home. Our daughters not only grew up in the church school and youth programs but remain very active young adult members.
